A planet is a large object such as Venus or Earth that orbits a star. Planets are smaller than stars, and they do not produce light. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the Solar System. Planets are shaped like a slightly squashed ball (called a spheroid). Objects that orbit planets are called satellites. There are more planets than stars in our galaxy. The current count orbiting our star: eight. The inner, rocky planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. The earth has conditions that support life . It is neither too hot nor too cold. It has both water and air, which are both indispensable for life . Presence of oxygen in the air in an appropriate proportion supports life .

What is a milkyway galaxy? yashwanth blog.

The Milky Way is the galaxy that includes our Solar System, with the name describing the galaxy's appearance from Earth: a hazy band of light seen in the night sky formed from stars that cannot be individually distinguished by the naked eye. The Milky Way is a large barred spiral galaxy. All the stars we see in the night sky are in our own Milky Way Galaxy. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way because it appears as a milky band of light in the sky when you see it in a really dark area.
